Project Youth OCBF’s 2017 Annual Meeting and Society of Fellows Recognition Reception was held on Wednesday, December 13, at First American Financial Corporation. It was a great turnout and wonderful evening for friends and supporters. Judge David O. Carter represented Project Youth with pride as master of ceremonies.
The event offered an opportunity to reflect on 2017 and recognize the donors, agencies, businesses, and volunteers that make our work possible and successful. Below are some award highlights from the event.
A special thanks and congratulations to the 2017 award recipients that were honored and recognized for their dedication and commitment to Project Youth: The Legal Eagle Cup for the winning team at our 21st Annual John C. Herklotz SHORTSTOP Golf Classic was accepted by Project Youth Board member Al Stokke on behalf of Corrigam | Welbourn | Stokke. Project Youth Board member Maria Stearns of Rutan & Tucker was recognized as Top OC Marathon Fundraiser for Project Youth for the second consecutive year. The recipient of our 2017 Sammy Award was Kyle Kawakami of Irell & Manella LLP. The Project Youth Community Partner Award was accepted by Michelle Rose on behalf of Hoag Hospital as its Director of Operations of Community Health. Project Youth’s Community Volunteer Award went to Sandi Warneke, who played a crucial role in turning our new building into a home.
The 9th Annual Society of Fellows Distinguished Fellow Award went to Mike Hornak and the 10th Annual Society of Fellows Distinguished Judicial Fellow Award to Judge Gail A. Andler (Ret.). Finally, the entire Project Youth staff joined Judge Carter in honoring Project Youth Board member Mike Pursell with the 2017 Special Recognition Award.
